Amidst the energy transition, which is gaining increasing momentum worldwide, a family business is becoming a driver of electromobility in South Africa. Learn how Peter Preusse halved his company’s energy costs while contributing to climate protection.
The story
The introduction of the first Audi E-Trons in South Africa marked the beginning of Peter Preusse’s mobility revolution. But when the new electric vehicles were first charged, his electricity bill doubled almost overnight.
In a country with abundant sunshine, the solution for Peter Preusse was obvious: To become less dependent on expensive grid power, the car dealership turned to solar energy. A PV system was installed on the roof of the dealership and seamlessly complemented by three inverters, an intelligent energy management system, a commercial storage system, and a double charging station. All from a single source, thanks to Sunithon. This combination enables the medium-sized company to save energy costs, reduce peak loads, and charge its electric vehicles in a CO2-neutral manner .
